What is chiropractic?
Chiropractic is a non-invasive, hands-on healthcare discipline that focuses on the body’s nervous system, muscles, and joints to help it function better. Each adjustment works to undo bad habits, poor postures, and stuck patterns that have been hardwired into our system over time. A course of chiropractic care works to restore body function, rebuild healthy patterns, and increase the body’s ability to handle stress.
Your chiropractic visits will consist of adjustments, joint mobilizations, and soft tissue work. Exercises and stretches are often prescribed to assist with your body’s healing process.
What happens on the first visit? How do I know if I need a chiropractor?
These questions are answered in detail on the “What to Expect” page
How many times will I have to come?
We provide care to our patients based on their specific needs and goals. The frequency and number of visits in your recommended care plan are based on the following:
- The problems identified
- The severity of damage and how long it’s been there
- Your goals and reasons for seeking care
A more precise answer can be given following your initial assessment.
How much will it cost?
Our initial chiropractic appointment is $105 for adults and $90 for children. Regular chiropractic visits are $55 for adults and $50 for children. We cannot estimate the total investment for your health until an initial assessment has been completed. From here, we can give you a more in-depth answer and payment options that fit your needs.
Can you direct bill to my private health insurance?
We can direct bill most major insurance companies for chiropractic and massage therapy services; including Sunlife, Manulife, Great-West Life, Johnston & Greenshield. It is up to you to confirm what services are covered through your insurance plan.
Once I start seeing a chiropractor, will I have to go forever?
No. You determine when your care starts and stops. Our team will always give you the best recommendations based on your health needs, but we never want you to do anything you’re not comfortable with. Chiropractic care should be considered as long as you want to have a healthy spine, nervous system, and body that functions optimally.
Does getting an adjustment hurt?
Usually, it’s quite the opposite. We try and use the gentlest techniques whenever possible; including our hands, drop piece tables, and handheld adjusting tools. Generally speaking, we try and work with your body, rather than against it. Most people typically experience immediate relief after an adjustment.
Do you have to be a certain age to get adjusted?
In our office chiropractic care has no age restriction. Our patients range from newborns to senior citizens. In many cases, spinal dysfunction can develop as early as birth, or learning to hold one’s head up, sit, crawl, or walk. We can perform a physical assessment at any age. Having an assessment does not mean care is required; it’s just an examination to ensure things are functioning correctly.
Is chiropractic safe during pregnancy?
Yes. Chiropractic care is safe during pregnancy. Our chiropractors are trained in a specific pregnancy technique (Webster Technique), which will ensure care is both safe and effective. Our office has pregnancy pillows of various sizes which allows pregnant patients of all stages to comfortably lay down on their belly and be properly cared for.
What problems can chiropractic help with?
